If light moths and dark moths are released into a polluted forest, which would you expect to survive? Why?

A scientists sets up a similar experiment in a controlled (laboratory) environment. Trees are light in color and both dark and light moths are released into the environment. The scientist gathers data for a 1 year period. At the end of the one year period, 51 % of the moths are dark and 49 % of the moths are light. Based on this data, do you think the scientist included a predator species in the enclosed environment - why or why not?
