Muscles of the Back
- Trapezius: This large, triangular muscle covers the upper back and extends down the spine to the mid-back. It assists in shoulder movement, neck stability, and scapular (shoulder blade) control.
- Latissimus Dorsi: Spanning across the lower and mid-back, this muscle aids in shoulder extension, adduction, and internal rotation.
- Rhomboids: Situated beneath the trapezius, these muscles help in retracting and stabilizing the scapulae (shoulder blades).
- Levator Scapulae: Located on the sides of the neck, these muscles elevate and stabilize the scapulae.
- Serratus Posterior: Consists of the superior and inferior parts; they aid in respiration by elevating the ribs during inhalation.
- Teres Major and Minor: Assist in arm movements and shoulder stability.
- Infraspinatus and Supraspinatus: External rotation of the shoulder joint
